Animal abuse penalties behind the pack in Saskatchewan

SASKATOON – An American organization says Saskatchewan has poor animal protection laws.

The Animal Legal Defence Fund of the United States makes the observation based on what it calls a comparative analysis of animal protection laws in Canada.

It says animal abusers get off easy in Saskatchewan and notes provinces such as Manitoba, BC, Ontario, and Nova Scotia have tougher laws.

But it says one province has weaker animal rules than Saskatchewan – Quebec.
