RCMP arrest 2 for string of N.B. church thefts

RIVERVIEW, N.B. – RCMP arrested a man and a woman Saturday in connection with a series of thefts from New Brunswick churches.

The suspects, a 25-year-old-man and a 21-year-old-woman, both from Dieppe, were released and will appear in court in October or November.

Twelve New Brunswick churches were hit by theft in July. The locations ranged from Miramichi all the way down to the Southeastern part of the province.

The suspects are accused of stealing copper, valuables and money, and damaging some of the century-old buildings.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
