MONTREAL – Quebec is reeling after violent storms hit the southwestern part of the province Friday, killing at least one person and injured 10 others.
A municipal employee in the community of Boucherville died when a branch fell in a local park.
Two other people were injured.
Eight children were injured in Prevost when a tent set up at a day camp to protect children from rain had collapsed on its occupants.
The violent storms swept through Ontario and southwest Quebec.
Environment Canada had previously issued a severe weather warning, saying meteorologists were tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong gusts, small hail and heavy rain locally.
“Some of these thunderstorms could also produce tornadoes,” the warning also noted.
The agency recommended people take cover should severe weather approach.
