TORONTO – The family of Wendy Martella is suing the Toronto Transit Commision and a transit driver after the 48-year-old was killed when she was struck by a transit bus in January.

The Martella family is seeking $3.2 million in a civil lawsuit that alleges the driver acted negligently when the bus ran through a red light and hit the victim.
The TTC bus driver, Magdalene Angelidis, is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, on charges of careless driving and failing to stop at a red light.
