A deadline has come and gone in Egypt, where President Mohammed Morsi is vowing to hang onto his job.

Egypt’s military had given Morsi an ultimatum on Monday to meet protesters’ demands within 48 hours, or it would intervene and impose a plan of its own.

At least 39 people have been killed in clashes since Sunday.

Meanwhile, airport officials in Cairo say a travel ban has been imposed against President Morsi as well as the leader of his Islamic Brotherhood and his deputy.

The opposition accuses them of calling all of the shots during Morsi’s year in power.
