A benefit concert is also being held on Saturday July 6 in Edmonton, to raise money for the southern Aboriginal communities affected by the flooding. The event will start at 2 p.m. at Fandango’s Live Entertainment Saloon and will feature Aboriginal recording artists.

The Siksika, Morley and Stoney Nakoda reserves have issued an urgent need for volunteers and drivers, to help unload and sort donations. They also need dollies, carts and a forklift as well as food, water and cleaning supplies.

CALGARY- People on the Siksika Reserve who were forced from their homes are growing frustrated as officials try to get to all the damaged areas. However, help has arrived from Slave Lake.
10 firefighters also trained in Search and Rescue arrived on Tuesday night, armed with pumps, generators, quads and a rescue boat.
The Chief of the Siksika Nation is appealing for donations, after flooding forced the evacuations of 200 homes.

The Stoney Nakoda Nation is also appealing for help. They have been generously supplied with clothing, but now require water, food, hygiene items, cleaning supplies and infant supplies.

RCMP in Gleichen are working with crews from Siksika fire and Wheatland County to assist residents and maintain property security.
They were concerned about two of the three bridges in the area being damaged during the flood, so they deployed officers to ensure the needs of residents on both sides of the river were addressed. They have been conducting patrols as well as responding to service calls. Officers have also been going door to door checking on residents.
A number of people are staying at the evacuation in Gleichen while others were evacuated to Strathmore.
The Highway 547 and Highway 842 bridges remain closed after being damaged.
The Hidden Valley Golf Resort is completely under water.
No one is being allowed back inside their homes at this time.
About 300 cottages in the Hidden Valley Golf Resort were also affected by flooding.
