Violent home invasion in north-east Edmonton

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Police Service is investigating an early morning home invasion, which resulted in two men being taken to hospital with stab wounds.

It happened early Friday morning, near 138 Avenue and 66 Street.

North division officers were called around 12:30 am, to a townhouse complex across from Londonderry Mall.

Police say between two to five masked men forced their way into the home. EPS Acting Staff Sargent Jared Buhler tells Global News the men were armed with knives and a long gun.

Two men and a pit bull inside the property were stabbed and a woman was assaulted.

A teenage boy in the home was not hurt.

All three victims were taken to hospital, and the dog was taken to an emergency vet clinic for treatment.

One of the men’s wounds were serious but not life threatening, while the other man’s injuries were less severe.

Police do not believe the incident was random. They say the victims are cooperating with the investigation. 

Police are still searching for the suspects, who fled the scene on foot before officers arrived.  The EPS Canine Unit, and Air One were brought in to help with the search, but the suspects have not yet been found or identified. 

Investigators are conducting interviews with the victims and neighbourhood residents.
