REGINA- Hard work may soon pay off for some local film makers.

Lowell Dean, Bernie Hernando and Hugh Patterson– the founders of Wolf Cop received news about making top 5 in a contest run by CineCoup. If they finish first, they get a million dollars to make their movie. When the group received the exciting news about making the top 5, emotions were flying high.

“I had about five seconds of excitement and then the realization that we had less than a week from the time we found out to get ready a whole new pitch, a whole new video, and memorize it,” said Lowell Dean, writer and director of Wolf Cop.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

This past week the group has dedicated endless hours preparing and practising their pitch and now are thinking they have a good chance to win this.

“We are cooler and from Saskatchewan and more prepared than other teams.  Our project is more markable and blends itself to making money,” says Hugh Patterson, producer of Wolf Cop.

On Monday their long journey will end. The group will stand in front of a panel of judges at the Banff World Music Festival and try to convince them their film is worth producing.

The film makers say this experience has been validating and win or lose, competing on a National level is something they’ll never forget and Wolf Cop still has a bright future.
