Parker steps aside as GM of the Regina Pats

Brent Parker has been the General Manager of the Regina Pats for 15 years, but next year he will have a new role.

He is relinquishing his GM role to assume the President and Governor position with the team.

Over the 15 years as GM Parker improved the attendance by 2,000 fans per game. During his time the Pats had seven players drafted into the NHL in the first round.

There were also two WHL Players of the Year from the Pats (Josh Harding and Jordan Eberle) and nine players played for Canada at the World Junior’s Hockey Championship. The Pats had a winning percentage of .513 during his tenure.

Even with the winning overall record, Parker was heavily criticized for his team’s lack of on-ice success over the past 15 years.

The search begins for a new GM and former Moose Jaw Warriors GM Chad Lang is one of the leading candidates.
