Vlog: Invasion of the ice

Nearly a year ago, I was headed on my way north to Selkirk, Manitoba. The small community of Breezy Point was in shambles. Massive blocks of ice, propelled by rushing flood waters, slammed into homes, toppled power lines and littered the streets.

I remember seeing the ice blocks scattered along the side of the road. Spectacular may not be the right word because it sounds too positive, but the sight was unreal. The blocks were a frosty blue tone and huge. Some were so thick, they came to my waist or higher.

Again, just a few days ago, a sight north of Winnipeg caused my jaw to drop. Massive blocks of ice rolled into the community of Winnipeg Beach on Easter weekend. Global viewers Anne Cook and David Wood shot some impressive home video, and as it turns out, this isn’t the first time the image was captured in the area or on their property, as shown in the video at the top of the page.
