HALIFAX — Halifax Regional Municipality Mayor Mike Savage is drawing comparisons between himself and Brad Pitt in a pitch to land a free main street makeover from Benjamin Moore & Co.
“The toughest thing is the constant comparisons to Brad Pitt,” said Savage on the trials of being mayor.
“I know what you’re thinking. But the camera adds 10 pounds and we’re using a bunch of cameras.”
“Brad Pitt starred in Ocean’s 11,” said Savage while trying on a hat in Biscuit General Store, “I used to play in the ocean when I was 11. And I was pretty cute back then too.”
Halifax is competing with dozens of communities in Canada and the United States hoping to score a free paint job for their main street. The top 20 communities will receive a three block makeover.
The project, Main Street Matters, has partnered with organizations around the country including Brad Pitt’s organization Make It Right, which began by building sustainable, affordable homes in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
