OTTAWA – A suspect is scheduled to appear in court today to face a slew of charges after he was arrested Tuesday evening driving a stolen vehicle.
Police say the same suspect had earlier stolen hundreds of dollars worth of groceries from a supermarket in the Stittsville area.
Three days earlier, the man allegedly stole close to $100 worth of gasoline from a Petro Canada station in Kanata.
And, on May 29, he allegedly stole a pickup truck from a parking lot at a Tim Hortons in the east end and crashed into another vehicle while escaping.
The charges against 24-year-old Matthew Sutherland of Ottawa include theft of a motor vehicle, possession over $5,000, two counts of theft, two counts of breach of probation and one count of failure to remain at scene of accident.
