Police say two officers were in their car talking to a woman involved in the dispute at 6:20 p.m. when a speeding van crashed into the cruiser and hit the woman.

The officers got out of their damaged car and arrested the driver of the van, a 32-year-old woman. She has since been charged with attempted murder and assault with a weapon and will appear in Dartmouth court Friday.

The injured pedestrian, a 46-year-old woman, was taken to hospital.
