TORONTO — Bridget Jones is back.
British author Helen Fielding, who created the character portrayed by Renée Zellweger on the big screen, announced Tuesday her new novel Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will be released Oct. 15.

It’s not yet known which boy Bridget is mad about but the book is set in present-day London and an older, wiser Bridget is immersed in social media.
Fielding’s 1996 book Bridget Jones’s Diary and 1999 follow-up Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason were international bestsellers. Both were adapted into successful films starring Zellweger as the titular single woman living in London.
The author is expected to visit Canada in October to promote the book.
