UPDATE (August 07, 2019): RCMP announce bodies believed to be Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam McLeod have been found.

RCMP say they found “several items” directly linked to a pair of B.C. murder suspects along the banks of the Nelson River on Friday.

In a tweet posted Tuesday, Manitoba RCMP initially said the items had been located on Saturday, but later said they were, in fact, found on Friday.

According to the RCMP, the items were located nine kilometres from where a burned vehicle driven by Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam McLeod was found. Also along the shoreline, they found a damaged aluminum boat.

RCMP then deployed their Underwater Recovery Team but ended the search Monday.

“On August 4, 2019, URT conducted a thorough underwater search approximately 29 metres around the location where the boat was found. The search did not uncover any additional items linked to the suspects,” said RCMP.”

The pair were last spotted in Gillam, Man., which is about 740 km north of Winnipeg, on July 22.

RCMP said they would not be giving out any details about the items found.

RCMP said they had set up a roadblock near Sundance, Man., a small town that has been largely abandoned.
