TORONTO – UFO sightings in Canada reached an all-time high in 2012, according to an annual report.

Ufology Research says that there were record numbers of UFOs reported in all provinces except Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island. In 2012, 40 per cent of UFOs were spotted in Ontario—far more than previous years.

According to the study, more than half of all UFO sightings were of simple lights in the sky. Witnesses also reported sources of light, spheres and boomerangs.

The report gives several theories for the sightings, which include “more secret or classified military exercises and over flights are occurring over populated areas,” “more people are unaware of the nature of conventional or natural objects in the sky” and even that, “the downturn in the economy is leading to an increased desire by some people to look skyward for assistance.”
