CHASE, BC – UPDATE: The two men who died in a head-on crash near Chase Monday have been identified.

The BC Coroners Service says Michael Spencer from Sicamous, and Christopher Thomas Boman from Salmon Arm, both 24, died at the scene.

Spencer has been identified as the driver of the pickup truck that crossed the centre line, colliding with a semi.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors, according to RCMP.

The accident happened west of Chase near Houghman’s Bluff on Highway 1 at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The pickup burst into flames on impact.

While an injured man managed to escape the burning wreckage, the driver and his other passenger did not.
