Two sheriff’s deputies knocked on Raymand Vannieuwenhoven’s door, pretending they wanted him to fill out a brief survey. They told him to put the survey in an envelope and seal it with his tongue. Eight days later he was in custody in relation to a 43-year-old murder case.
