The 2010 SaskTel Provincial Men's Tankard is officially underway.
It's been quite the opening three draws in Lumsden from poor ice conditions, near scares and an upset – we've seen it all.

According to SaskCurl "The breakdown of the pebble during the first two draws created some challenges for teams at the Provincial Men’s Tankard at the Lumsden Sports Centre. Many players voiced concern over the dampness and softness of the ice leaving pants and brooms wet despite the cold arena."
The defending Tankard Champion, Joel Jordison, had quite the scare in his opening game. In Draw 2 on Wednesday Night, Jordison was down 7-5 in the 9th End to 22-year old Dallan Muyres. Jordison scored a single in the 9th, stole one in the tenth then survived a scare as Muyres' draw to the button was a hair too heavy – giving up another steal of one. So Joel Jordison advanced to today's "A" Quarter Final with an 8-7 win.
In today's "A" Quarter Finals… Jordison again needed extra ends where he defeated Carl deConinick Smith 8-7. Jordison will face Darrell McKee in the "A' Semi Final.
The first big upset occured in today's "A" Quarter Finals as the four time champions, Team Simmons, was beat 8-6 by Mark Herbert. As a result, Pat Simmons and his foursome drop down to the "B" Side where they will face either Brennan Jones or Josh Heidt.
So here's how it breaks down…
"A" Semi Finals (Thursday at 7pm)
Mark Herbert vs. Randy Bryden
Joel Jordison vs. Darrell McKee
The "A" Final will be played Friday at Noon.
