Dozens of wildfires are burning across Alberta, prompting evacuations of communities and firefighting teams from across the country have come to the province to help fight the blazes.
Wildfire season in Alberta started on March 1, and while it got off to a slow start, since the beginning of May, the number of fires has been steadily increasing, as well as the intensity of some.
As of 10 a.m. on Aug. 23, there were 13 wildfires burning in Alberta, all of which were listed as either under control or turned over.
As of 10 a.m. Aug. 23, there was one fire ban in place in the province.

As of Friday, Aug. 23, wildfires have burned 882,599 hectares in Alberta this year.
During the 2018 wildfire season, 1,288 wildfires burned more than 59,800 hectares across the province. The province said 777 of the wildfires last year were caused by humans.
