PORTLAND, Ore. – Riley Woods scored 9:35 into overtime as the Spokane Chiefs edged the Portland Winterhawks 5-4 on Tuesday in Game 3 of their Western Hockey League playoff series.

Woods’s goal came 9:35 into the extra period to give Spokane a 2-1 series lead.

Luke Toporowski, Luc Smith, Ethan McIndoe and Jack Finley had goals in regulation time for the Chiefs.

Bailey Brkin made 28 saves for Spokane.

Robbie Fromm-Delorme led Portland with two goals, while Joachim Blichfeld and Jared Freadrich also scored.

Joel Hofer turned away 38 shots in the Winterhawks net.

The Chiefs scored on their one power play and Portland could not connect on its one man advantage.

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Max Gerlach put away the winner 15:39 into the third period as Saskatoon slipped past the Warriors for a 3-0 series lead.

Kyle Crnkovic and Kirby Dach also scored for the Blades.

Keenan Taphorn and Carson Denomie replied for the Warriors.

RAIDERS 4 REBELS 2

RED DEER, Alta. — Noah Gregor struck twice, including the third-period winner, as Prince Albert doubled the Rebels.

Dante Hannoun and Parker Kelly also scored for the Raiders, who hold a 3-0 series lead.

Brandon Hagel and Reese Johnson supplied the offence for Red Deer.

GIANTS 6 THUNDERBIRDS 4

KENT, Wash. — Dallas Hines’s goal near the midway point of the third period was the winner as Vancouver downed Seattle.

Tristen Nielsen, Bowen Byram, Jadon Joseph, Alex Kannok Leipert and Brayden Watts rounded out the attack as the Giants took a 2-1 series lead.

Payton Mount struck twice for the Thunderbirds, while Matthew Wedman and Sean Richards also scored.

TIGERS 5 OIL KINGS 0

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Mads Sogaard stopped all 32 shots he faced as the Tigers blanked Edmonton for a 2-1 series lead.

Cole Sillinger, James Hamblin, Elijah Brown, Ryan Chyzowski and Hayden Ostir scored for Medicine Hat.

Todd Scott combined with Dylan Myskiw for 29 saves for the Oil Kings.

HITMEN 5 HURRICANES 3

CALGARY — Carson Focht scored twice, including the power-play winner in the third period, as the Hitmen topped Lethbridge.

Ryder Korczak, Josh Prokop and Luke Coleman also scored for Calgary.

Dylan Cozens had a pair of goals for the Hurricanes, who hold a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-seven series. Zack Stringer also scored.

ROYALS 3 BLAZERS 2

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Kody McDonald scored the game-winning goal at the 8:08 mark of the third period as Victoria eked out a win over the Blazers.

Carson Miller and Brandon Cutler also scored for the Royals, who hold a 2-1 series advantage.

Jermaine Loewen and Connor Zary scored for Kamloops.
