Police credit a call from a concerned citizen for leading to the arrest of a Peterborough man on impaired driving charges Thursday night.
Shortly before 9 p.m., Peterborough police received a call about a possible impaired driver in a Lansdowne Street West parking lot. Officers responded and located the suspect vehicle and a driver parked in front of a restaurant.
Police say while speaking to the driver, they detected an odour of alcohol on the man’s breath. A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.
Cameron Jonathan Truchan, 36, of Braidwood Ave. in Peterborough was arrested and charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 and operation while impaired by alcohol.
His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
He was released and will appear in court on April 18.
