Nova Scotia RCMP are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in Yarmouth on Monday.

Police say that shortly before 1 a.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle motor collision on Black Point Road.

Officers found a van in a ditch. The lone occupant, a 59-year-old man, was unresponsive.

The Mounties say the man was transported to hospital by EHS where he was later pronounced dead.

Black Point Road was closed for several hours as an RCMP collision reconstruction analyst studied the scene.

Police say the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
