It’s the most wonderful time of the year for foodies in Edmonton.
Downtown Dining Week kicks off on Friday, March 8 and for 10 days, 50 different restaurants in central Edmonton will be offering multi-course meals for discounted prices.
“It’s a great opportunity to try a new restaurant you’ve never been to,” says the Downtown Business Association’s Tracy Hyatt. “There’s a lot of new restaurants opening in the downtown core, and also some longtime favourites.”
Participating restaurants are offering either $18-two-course lunches, $30- or $45-three-course dinners and new this year, $18-two-course brunches on the weekends.
A number of special culinary events are also being hosted as part of the event.
“Get Cooking is offering a cooking class for singles,” Hyatt says. “Downtown has got a high concentration of singles living in condos. So we thought it would be kind of fun to do a cooking class where you learn fast and easy recipes for yourself, but also to entertain.”
Hyatt says the event is purposely held during a traditionally slow hospitality season to drum up economic activity downtown.
“We want people to dine at the restaurants and continue on their night or their day doing other things downtown; go shopping, go to the art gallery.”
If you’re hoping to eat at your favourite spot, Hyatt recommends making a reservation as soon as possible.
