A Manitoba highway speeder has been dinged by RCMP with a huge fine, as well as other potential penalties.
RCMP said the 24-year-old man was busted Sunday going 151 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Hwy. 9. The driver was spotted weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds.
The man – who was also arrested and charged for impaired driving – was slapped with a $979 speeding ticket.
His car was towed and he’ll have a license review with Manitoba Public Insurance.
This ticket comes on the heels of the RCMP announcing that almost half of all traffic fatalities on Manitoba roads in 2018 were speed-related, with 46 per cent involving an impaired driver.
