A Winnipeg man has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of an elderly woman on the weekend.
42 year old Christopher MacKenzie Campbell was arrested in Regina Sunday after being identified by Winnipeg police as a suspect.
Police were called Saturday morning to a home in the 1100 block of Alexander Avenue and found the woman’s body. Campbell was gone; his vehicle turned up near Regina later that day.
Regina officers spotted him Sunday.
Winnipeg police said Campbell had a history of mental illness.
There’s information to suggest Campbell had not recently been taking his required medication. Police said people should use caution if approaching Campbell as his behavior may be violent and unpredictable.
