Firefighters cut victim out of vehicle after Deerfoot crash

CALGARY – Firefighters were forced to cut a man out of his vehicle after a crash on the off-ramp from northbound Deerfoot Trail onto westbound Memorial Drive, early Friday morning.

The crash happened just after 5 a.m.

Firefighters had to cut the roof off of the victim’s car to be able to pull him from the wreckage.

Officials say the victim’s car, a late-model BMW, was heavily damaged in the crash.

The driver, a 26-year-old man, was not conscious when he was removed from his vehicle.

He has been rushed to Foothills Hospital in serious life-threatening condition.

The off-ramp from northbound Deerfoot Trail onto westbound Memorial Drive N.E. was closed for several hours while police investigated.
