Steve Darling is taking another crack at politics. The former Global News anchor and BC Liberal candidate has announced his plans to run for a job on Port Coquitlam city council.
“This community is beautiful and diverse with many activities. My family is heavily involved in the community,” wrote Darling on his Facebook page. “I want to support and improve our community by dealing with issues like traffic, transit options, housing affordability and the revitalization of the downtown core.”

Darling was defeated in the 2017 provincial election in Burnaby-Lougheed by Katrina Chen. Chen tallied 10,911 votes, 2,520 votes more than the 8,391 that Darling received. Darling spent 18 years at Global BC as a reporter and anchor.
The former news anchor recently started a job at Proactive Investors, a business news site.
