Barrie man charged with impaired driving after single vehicle collision in Innisfil

A 48-year-old man from Barrie has been charged with impaired driving after a single-vehicle collision in Innisfil.

According to South Simcoe police, on Sunday at around 8 p.m., a man told officers he was driving on the 10th Line in Innisfil when he slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting a deer.

Police say the man lost control and the vehicle went into the westbound ditch where it hit a pole and rolled onto its roof.

According to police, when an officer spoke to the man, he could smell alcohol and could see signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested, and police transported him to the North Division where further testing resulted in readings over 80 mg.

Police say the man’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded.
