Innisfil man facing weapons-related charges after argument turned physical: Police

A 20-year-old man from Innisfil is facing several weapons-related charges after police received a report of a fight involving an armed man in Innisfil.

According to South Simcoe police, on Aug 6. at around 4:30 p.m., police were called to the Park Road and Sideroad 25 area where they came across a large crowd and a man holding another man on the ground.

Police say the man on the ground was arrested without incident.

Further police investigation revealed the incident began earlier in the day when three men allegedly forced their way into a home and stole several items.

Officers say the victims of the alleged robbery went to confront the suspects and a verbal altercation turned physical.

According to police, the accused threatened the victims with two different weapons.

At this time, police say a random, unrelated passerby in a vehicle stopped to intervene in the altercation. Officers say the man approached the group with what appeared to be a weapon. He then tossed the weapon into the nearby woods.

According to police, the weapon was located by officers. It turned out to be an air pistol.

Officers say the suspect was taken to the North Division before being taken to a local area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Police say the 20-year-old man from Innisfil has been charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and pointing a firearm.
