Body found in burned car in northeast Calgary neighbourhood

Calgary police are investigating after a body was found in a burned car near the 600 block of Coral Springs Boulevard.

Police said it was the body of an elderly man.

Calgary EMS said at around 1:45 p.m., they were called to the area for assistance.

The house associated with the vehicle was searched and an elderly woman was found inside.

She was transported to Foothills Hospital in serious but stable condition with undisclosed injuries. It’s unclear if her injuries are related to the car fire.

Calgary Police Services said the man and woman are known to each other.

CPS said the incident is not suspicious. They will not be releasing further details to protect the privacy of the family.

Officers said no children were present during the incident.
