The City of Moncton has announced that the new Moncton Events Centre has reached substantial completion — meaning that the building is now functional.
However, it’s not open to the public quite yet.

The city announced the milestone on its official Facebook page.
The project has been under construction for nearly two years and with the centre reaching substantial completion phase, it means that the city has now transferred a portion of the payment — $88 million — to the company in charge of its construction, Bird Construction.
The final portion of the payment — $13.6 million — will be paid out once the project reaches the final completion stage.
The events centre is expected to be completed by the end of August.
