Suspicious package call delays performance at Tarragon Theatre during Toronto Fringe

Toronto police say they evacuated Tarragon Theatre to actively investigate what appeared to be a bomb threat.

A police spokesperson said they received the call around 12:20 p.m. to Bridgman at Howland avenues Saturday with reports a suspicious package was found.

Police said they evacuated the building, but around 2 p.m. said they could not find a threat to the public’s safety.

Toronto Fringe Festival, which is currently using the theatre for performances, said in a tweet that a bomb threat had been made.

After the scene was cleared, they tweeted that four shows had been cancelled and a fifth was delayed by 15 minutes; all other shows would go on as scheduled.
