Ottawa police said on Wednesday they don’t yet have any suspects in connection to a stabbing incident near the Rideau Canal on Tuesday evening that sent a 15-year-old girl to hospital with serious injuries.
A spokesperson for the Ottawa Police Service said the teenager is now in stable condition and remains in hospital.
Const. Chuck Benoit declined to say where the girl was stabbed on her body but said her injuries are not life-threatening.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, police said, near Colonel By Drive and Laurier Avenue West in downtown Ottawa.
Benoit said investigators were able to get a “brief” statement from the victim and are still “working on getting more information.”
“Possibly, if there are witnesses that haven’t spoken to us, we would appreciate a phone call to give us some details,” Benoit said.
A police news release urged anyone with information regarding this investigation to call 613-236-1222, ext. 5166.
