Simon Cowell promises to buy Toronto contestant dog after ‘America’s Got Talent’ audition

On Tuesday’s episode of America’s Got Talent, 13-year-old Toronto singer Jeffrey Li explained that, if he were to win the show’s grand prize of $1 million, he’d buy himself a dog.

“I’m an only child, so I’d love a companion, so I guess a dog,” Li said.

Li said he would buy a German Shephard because “it would play with me all day, and I would love that.”

America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell told Li “If you do well, I’m going to buy you a dog. We’ll choose one together.”

For his audition, Li chose to sing a rendition of Josh Groban’s You Raise Me Up.

“Jeffrey, I think you might be getting a puppy from Simon,” Heidi Klum said after his performance.

Howie Mandel said he was “a young male Celine Dion” and Mel B likened his voice to that of an angel.

“Jeffrey, I think this was an amazing audition, so I’m going to keep my promise. Not only have you got four yeses, you’ve got yourself a new dog,” Cowell said.
