Details have emerged about the 10 individuals who lost their lives after a driver plowed into pedestrians in Toronto on Monday afternoon.

Toronto police say van attack looks ‘deliberate’
The deadly incident, which was allegedly carried out by suspect Alek Minassian, led the entire city to pause and come together in solidarity with those affected.
Here are the names of those who were killed and a glimpse into the lives they led.

Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Forsyth, 94
Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Forsyth, 94, was killed in Monday’s tragic van attack in northern Toronto.
Mary Hunt told Global News she learned about her neighbour’s death through one of Forsyth’s relatives.

She described Forsyth as a lively person who loved to feed the birds and squirrels on her regular walks through the neighbourhood.
“She’d have her yogurt and her coffee and she’d be off,” Hunt said of her friend. “I never went with her walking because I couldn’t keep up with her.”
Renuka Amarasingha, 45
Toronto District School Board employee Renuka Amarasingha is among those killed in the attack.
Amarasingha’s death was confirmed by school board trustee Tiffany Ford in a Facebook post Wednesday.

Asoka Pinnaduwage, who works with the Toronto Maha Vihara Buddhist Meditation Centre, told Global News that Amarasingha was a single mother to a young son.
“I used to know her and her son,” Pinnaduwage said. “She comes every Sunday. She has no other relative in Canada, other than her ex-husband.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up by the meditation centre, Pinnaduwage explained. Money raised will be used for funeral costs, and the rest will go to the son.
Anne Marie D’Amico, 30
Anne Marie D’Amico was the first victim to be identified in the attack on Yonge Street. She worked as a performance management analyst at Invesco, a U.S.-based investment management company.
Invesco is close to the stretch of Yonge Street where the driver mounted a curb.
In a statement, her family said she had a “generous heart.”
“She genuinely wanted to care for all those around her even if it meant sacrificing a portion of herself in return for others’ happiness.”
“She only had kindness in her,” the statement read.

Munir Najjar, 85
A resident of Jordan visiting his family in Toronto was also killed.
The death of Munir Najjar was confirmed by the Embassy of Jordan in Ottawa to Global News.

Najjar, who was in his 85s, was in Toronto to visit his children and grandchildren, the embassy explained.
It added that officials are working closely with Canadian authorities to help assist the Najjar family.

So He Chung, 22
So He Chung, 22, has been identified as one of the people killed Monday.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she had pursued a Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto, and was due to graduate some time this year.
She also worked as a sales specialist at Holt Renfrew.

Chul Min Kang, 45
Chul Min Kang’s death was confirmed by the company where he worked, Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouses, in a letter to employees Tuesday.
The message, sent by the company’s director John Paul Mannella, explained that the chef died on scene.

“There are times when it is necessary to communicate news that is painful,” Mannella wrote. “It is in these times where were must all be prepared to comfort each other as we deal with the many emotions that we may experience.”
Global News has spoken to multiple sources who confirmed the death.
Dorothy Sewell, 80
Dorothy Sewell’s death was confirmed to Global News by her grandson, Elwood Delaney.
He said she was “the best grandmother anyone could have asked for. Almost had as much love for the Blue Jays and Leafs as she did for her family.”
The 80-year-old was a retired Sears employee.

Andrea Bradden, 33
During a press conference Friday, police identified Andrea Bradden of Woodbridge, Ont. as a victim killed in the vehicle attack.
According to a LinkedIn profile of the victim, which has now been removed, Bradden worked as an account executive at the company Gartner.
Ji Hun Kim, 22
South Korean citizen Ji Hun Kim was confirmed as a victim of the attack by police Friday. She was a student studying in Toronto.
Raymond Cho, the Member of Provincial Parliament for Scarborough–Rouge River, told Global News Friday evening that he has been speaking with Kim’s father to try to provide assistance.
“He couldn’t believe–he was very shocked … I asked the father if he could come here today. He said he’s not too sure. He’s too shaken,” Cho said.
“The sad part is she … is the only daughter, the only child, and she got killed here.”
Geraldine Brady, 83

Eighty-three-year-old Toronto resident Geraldine Brady was also confirmed by police to have died in Monday’s attack.
Brady was a great-grandmother and a gifted seamstress, and worked as an Avon sales representative for several years, according to an obituary posted on the website of the R.S. Kane Funeral Home in North York, Ont.
Brady’s family is encouraging donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation in her memory.
Attempted murder charges
Minassian is facing 10 first-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths. He is also charged with 13 counts of attempted murder. He is expected to face additional charges.
These are the injured victims for whom the suspect is facing attempted murder charges.
Amir Kiumarsi
Amir Kiumarsi is a Unit 2 chief steward for CUPE 3904 Contract Academics of Ryerson University. A LinkedIn profile and Facebook page says he is a chemistry lecturer at the university as well.
CUPE 3904 told Global News on Wednesday that they do not know the specifics of Kiumarsi’s condition, but he is in the ICU at Sunnybrook Hospital. At this time, his family is asking for privacy.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for Kiumarsi by colleagues. The funds will go toward Kiumarsi’s recovery and to help him, his wife and three children.

Amaresh Tesfamariam
Amaresh Tesfamariam’s nephew Menab Tesfu confirmed to Global News that she is still in hospital, suffering from an injury to her spine.
“She’s a self-made woman. So it’s really hard to see something like this could happen to her,” he said.
Tesfu, who lives in Texas with his family, said his mother is flying to Toronto to be at her sister’s bedside.
The family launched a GoFundMe campaign Tuesday to help with any expenses Tesfamariam may incur.

Aleksandra Kozhevinikova
Aleksandra Kozhevinikova, a 90-year-old Russian citizen who lives in Canada, is currently in hospital after being injured Monday.
The Russian Embassy in Canada said on Twitter that consuls are “closely monitoring the situation” and are in contact with her family.
The extent of her injuries are not known.
Morgan McDougall
Seneca College student Morgan McDougall was also injured in the van attack, his grandmother confirmed to Global News.
Details on his condition have not been made public.
