Dogs who were in stolen truck reunite with Alberta family

Edmonton police said two dogs that went missing when a pickup truck was stolen last week have been returned home.

On Monday, police said Rocky and Jersey were found unharmed in Rimbey, Alta. and were safely returned to their family.

The two Old English Bulldogs were found roaming the area of Range Road 53 and Township Road 422 on March 17.

At around 2:30 p.m. on March 12, police received a report that a truck was stolen outside a business in the area of 101 Street and 34 Avenue. The truck owner told police she went into the business for about 20 minutes. When she came back out, there was broken glass on the ground near where her truck had been parked.

The truck, along with her two dogs and an ATV in the bed, was gone.

The truck is a grey 2014 Ford F150 with the Alberta plate RPA249. The ATV is a black and yellow 2016 Can-Am DS 90 with the Alberta plate GDA50.

On Monday, RCMP said they were still looking for the ATV, but did not provide an update on the truck.

“We’re looking for any tips on the whereabouts of the truck, the two dogs or the quad,” Det. Scott Gargan with Southeast Division said in a news release on March 14. “In particular, we want to help this family get their dogs back as quickly as possible.”

The truck was last seen travelling towards Calmar after reportedly being involved in a hit-and-run collision in Leduc.
