UPDATE 6 P.M. – RCMP say a fire that engulfed a Kelowna home Tuesday morning was accidental.
“Investigational findings at that scene have led police to believe the tragic blaze to be electrical and non-criminal in nature,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, Kelowna RCMP spokesperson, said.
Police are now supporting the BC Coroners Service in their investigation into the fatality.

RCMP have confirmed a woman was killed in a devastating structure fire on Springfield Road Tuesday.
The fire broke out early Tuesday morning at a home in the 2600 Block of Springfield Road.
The home is now completely gutted.
RCMP said a driver passing the home around 5:00 a.m. saw the fire and “honked his horn repeatedly to alert those still believed to be sleeping inside.”
Neighbours said two children and two adults lived in the home.
They said the family initially all got out safely but one of the adults returned inside the house to retrieve a dog and did not make it out.
Police said a woman’s body was found inside the home by fire crews.
RCMP said the cause the fire is under investigation.
Investigators are appealing to the public for tips as police continue to look into the early morning blaze.
