Peterborough Butterfly Run supports families enduring perinatal and child loss

The second annual Peterborough Butterfly Run will once again support bereavement care for individuals and families dealing with loss during a pregnancy, loss of a child or are unable to conceive.

The event on Sunday, April 29 at Millennium Park will feature a 5-km walk/run and a 1-km Memorial Walk.

“Last year we saw more than 500 people come out to participate in our inaugural event,” said Mary Orpen, event chairperson. “Based on early registration, we are expecting to exceed those numbers for this year’s event.”

The event is partnering with the Greater Peterborough Health Services Foundation to raise funds to help create resources and support tools for families, as well as education opportunities for health care providers, under the medical guidance of the Partners in Pregnancy Clinic.

A moment of silence will be held following the opening ceremonies at 9:15 a.m.
