One advocacy group is calling on voters to remember the rights of people with disabilities.

Members of Civil Rights Now launched its ‘Think Twice’ campaign Saturday afternoon. It calls on all the political parties to publicly commit to supporting legislation that would allow people in B.C. with disabilities to live with dignity.

“Most of the hundreds of thousands people with disabilities in this province do not have a practical way to enforce their civil rights guaranteed by the charter,” said Paul Caune, executive director of Civil Rights Now.

“What I hope to see is a commitment, an explicit commitment by the Liberal party and the NDP party here in B.C. that if elected they will pass two laws that will give people with disabilities practical tools to enforce their civil rights.”

Caune said people with disabilities in B.C. are not properly taken care of, and this denies them proper health care and education.
