Scott Thompson: Hamilton vandals were looking for a fight

Hamilton police are asking for assistance in identifying a group of vandals who hit Locke St. on Saturday night. File / 900 CHML

In Hamilton on Saturday night, a group of masked vandals paraded down Locke St. carrying a banner that read, “WE ARE THE UNGOVERNABLE.”

They began setting off fireworks, damaging cars and smashing storefront windows.

When police arrived they scattered, removing their cowardly costumes, and blending in with the night.

Police are looking for your help and any video from the area. I’m sure it won’t take long.

You only have to cull one sheep from a herd like this before they crumble and squeal on each other — hence the costumes.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Do these losers not realize they are in Hamilton? You certainly don’t walk into Hamilton looking for a fight on a Saturday night.

Hamiltonians are not going to sit back and let someone beat up their city.

They vandals were lucky they weren’t surrounded by law-abiding citizens who ripped off their scary masks.

These hooligans are not the “ungovernable” — they’re the uneducated.

Have mercy on them if they keep it up.
