Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart says there are a number of enhancements to the 2018 Crop Insurance Program.
Stewart says it will include fire insurance for pastureland, more crops will be insured under the contract price option, and compensation rates will be increased for cattle killed by predators.
He says the plan is more responsive and will be extremely valuable this year as Saskatchewan comes off one of the driest years in its history.
Crop Insurance coverage levels are down a bit, but the average premium has also fallen.
