TORONTO – Firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze in Kensington Market early Thursday morning.
The fire broke out in a basement apartment of a row house on Oxford Street, near Augusta Avenue, just after 4 a.m.
The blaze quickly spread to the rear of the building where it engulfed the back porch.
Just before 5 a.m. a mayday was called after firefighters became disoriented within the house.
Within minutes, crew members located their counterparts and led them out of the burning building.
No injuries were reported.
A Toronto Transit Commission bus was dispatched to the area to shelter approximately 15 residents evacuated from the home.
The fire was knocked down shortly after 5 a.m.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
