Patrick Brown has stepped aside from his bid to regain leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario.
At one time, Patrick Brown’s biggest problem was Ontarians didn’t know much about him. Then, all of a sudden, allegedly, we knew too much about him, soon followed by, most are getting tired of hearing about him.
Brown quickly became the distraction that could deny the Ontario PC Party its ultimate goal, defeating Kathleen Wynne’s Liberals.
Things were on track to provide yet another example of a self-inflicted wound that Ontarians have watched play out in the last 3 election campaigns.
This was one of the reasons Brown gave, in a four-page letter to party brass, detailing why he was stepping back out of the leadership race.
His notice of libel with CTV to clear his name, protecting his family and friends, and moving forward, were other reasons given.
Considering all that has transpired since that original bizarre CTV report aired, there is only one person who could be more disappointed than Patrick Brown. That’s Premier Wynne.
The Brown distraction was the last free ride to the golden ticket which held a glimmer of hope for her tired government.
Now it’s time to concentrate on what really matters to Ontarians according to an Ipsos/Global News poll: healthcare, jobs and the economy, lower taxes, and cheaper electricity.
We’ve all had enough of others’ personal affairs. We have our own to worry about.
