The driver of the unloaded logging truck, Reid Forman,  told Global News he pulled over when noticed smoke coming out of the dashboard and vents.

He said he tried to put the fire out with an extinguisher but the flames only grew.

That’s when he and his dog jumped out of the truck.

The fire destroyed the semi’s engine compartment as well as the cab.
