Canada’s Chris Del Bosco suffered four broken ribs, a bruised lung and a fractured pelvis as a result of the horrific crash during the men’s freestyle ski cross event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea on Wednesday.
The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) said Thursday, the Montreal native is in stable condition and is under observation.
“After a full assessment by Canadian Olympic Committee’s doctors, it is confirmed that Del Bosco has four rib fractures, a pulmonary contusion, and a stable pelvis fracture,” the COC said. “We wish Chris a speedy recovery and all of Team Canada is behind him.”

Del Bosco, 35, went airborne on the final jump, landing hard on his right side. The freestyle skier was on the ground for several minutes before being skied off the course on a stretcher.
The COC said Wednesday that Del Bosco was conscious and in stable condition when the skier was taken to hospital from the ski cross course.
Del Bosco, one of the founding members of the national ski cross team, was trying to make up some ground after falling behind early in his pre-quarterfinal heat.
A hush fell over the stunned crowd as Del Bosco soared in the air, his body twisting and flailing, before finally crashing down.
“It sucks, it’s a teammate,” said Canada’s Brady Leman, who won the gold medal. “Del was skiing super, super fast. In training, he was one of the top guys every day. So he would have been tough to beat I think if he could have stayed on his feet.
Del Bosco finished fourth when ski cross made its Olympic debut at the 2010 Vancouver Games. The 2011 world champion has won gold at the Winter X Games on two occasions.
