St. Thomas Police have laid six charges against a London man after a bank employee contacted police over suspicions of identity theft and fraud.
According to police, at roughly 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon the suspect went to the CIBC on Talbot Street and tried to open a chequing account and get a credit card using what police say was stolen identification.
The suspect said he had almost $20,000 to deposit, raising suspicions of a bank employee who quietly contacted police.
The suspect took off running when officers arrived and tried to resist arrest while armed with a box cutter after being located on Curtis Street.
The suspect, 32, is charged with fraud over $5000, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, resisting arrest, failing to comply with probation, and identity theft.
