Social media lit up with some striking imagery that showed snow falling all across Metro Vancouver on Tuesday night.

The photos came as Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning across Metro Vancouver as flakes started to fall across the region on Tuesday.

The warning ended for Metro Vancouver Wednesday morning and the western section of the Fraser Valley, including Abbotsford.

However, it remains up for the central section of the Valley, including Chilliwack, as well as for the eastern Fraser Valley including Hope.

Global News meteorologist Mark Madryga says there is more chilly weather to come.

“Looks like the forecast worked out pretty much according to plan. There is a blanket of snow over most of Metro Vancouver, certainly the Fraser Valley this morning. At least five centimetres in a number of areas has fallen overnight. But it has wound down, just a chance of a shower or a flurry first thing this morning, then some clearing later. However, we’re not done: there is wintry weather in the forecast, especially later in the weekend and next week.”

The warning called for as much as 10 to 15 centimetres.
