OSHAWA, Ont. – Durham regional police say four officers are being credited with saving the lives of two men found unconscious from apparent drug overdoses.
They say two officers checking reported drug activity in Oshawa on Thursday night found two unconscious men, both in their late 20s, inside an abandoned landscaping truck.
Police say the men were not dressed for the cold conditions, the windows in the truck had been smashed out and there was a small fire smoldering under one of the men.
They say two additional officers arrived and they were able to remove one of the men from the vehicle to an awaiting ambulance, where naloxone was administered and he was revived.
The jaws of life were required to remove the second man and, after about 20 minutes, he also responded positively to naloxone.
Both men were taken to hospital and are expected to survive.
