TORONTO – Super Bowl XLVII dominated the Twittersphere on Sunday, with users posting 24.1 million tweets about the game and its events.

The 108-yard kickoff return touchdown for the Ravens, made by wide receiver Jacoby Jones, generated 185,000 tweets per minute (TPM) and the Raven’s win over the 49ers generated 183,000 TPM.

But it was Beyonce who stole the show on social media – the conclusion of her half-time show generated 268,000 TPM, making it the biggest event of the game.

Runner up for star of the show on social media was the power outage at the Superdome, delaying the game by more than 30 minutes in the second half, which drew in 231,500 TPM.

Even brands took advantage of the power outage for promotional needs.

Oreo led the way tweeting a photo that read “you can still dunk in the dark,” which was retweeted over 15,000 times and garnered nearly 20,000 likes on Facebook.
